I’m Hip, All Right…

I am the most awkward, ungraceful person that I know, but my friends can vouch for me when I say that I really care about kids.  I do a lot of free tutoring for children that have no support at home or at school.  I only give my time to children that want to learn.  Why waste time on someone that could not care less whether or not you are helping them?  Right now I am struggling through Algebra and trying to remember the difference between monomials and polynomials for a girl that is in algebra.  She is really struggling but she has so much potential.  I just hope that my help will benefit her in the long run.

Ever heard of a gamer trance?  It happens when you get a really great video game and play it for hours.  You have a blank stare and don’t respond to anyone or anything; all that matters is the game. I love to game.  The very first video game I played was Duck Hunt.  I was two years old, and from that moment of shooting a cartoon duck on the TV screen, I knew I was hooked.  It has been nearly a quarter of a century, and I am stilled hooked on video games.  I wonder how my grandchildren will feel about my gaming addiction…

Sticky Rice

Throughout my childhood, I have always hated rice.  My mom made boil-in-a-bag rice almost every night, and I thought that was the way rice was supposed to taste.   That all changed when I moved to Oahu and had my first taste of sticky rice from a rice cooker. Now, I have sticky rice practically every night for dinner, including last night.  We browned ground Pork and added celery to it, and then added soy sauce and sugar.  It only costs about $1.50 to make, but boy is it tasty.  Rice really is a magical food, and I mourn for anyone that has not tasted rice cooked in a rice cooker.

My favorite holiday is and always will be Easter.  I have a pure hatred for Christmas, and not because Christians like it so much.  I hate it because it has become nothing more than an additional Birthday for everyone.   Easter is a bit pagan in nature, but at least the reason for the holiday is clear—because Jesus died on the cross for our sins and was resurrected three days later.  What could be a better holiday than that?  Also, and I hate to admit this, but I really like the bunnies and the pastel colors.  There is so much life to Easter.
