Dexter vs. Stabler

Given the choice of a sitcom, a reality show, a police drama, a legal drama or a medical drama (or another genre of my choosing), I’d have to say I’d go with a legal drama. I often find myself sucked into a good Law and Order marathon and losing hours at a time wondering what the verdict will be (and to be entirely honest, I’m occasionally surprised!). Dexter, another popular crime drama, merges the world of a serial killer and police-force employee in a compelling show that has you rooting for both “teams” simultaneously. While I enjoy laughing along with my favorite sitcom characters at the ridiculous scenarios they often find themselves in, I can’t help but feel jaded by how mundane life is in the world of public broadcasting. It’s those hard-hitting dramas, though, that remind me that a little conflict can be just what you need to spice the night up!

If I had $500 to spend at the mall, I would likely feel like a kid in a candy store. While shopping trips of yesteryear would have been filled with CDs and decorative posters, I would likely make more mature decisions these days. I would likely spend a large portion of the money on clothes (either from Old Navy or Macy’s) and then I would spend the remainder either on books for my son or on lunch and a mani/pedi combo, depending on the mall. Of course, I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t be tempted to get my hair done or visit some funky design-your-own-anything store. Who DOESN’T love custom made stuff animals?
