I am a single mother, divorced by choice, but the divorce included a Victims Protection Order if that tells you anything. Shortly after my divorce I ended up back with my parents, with everything in my life a mess, but I just kept trying, maybe just maybe I would get it right. Next thing I know my daughter was diagnosed with autism. My first reaction was denial, then shock, then OMG what am I going to do now. It took my 5 years to do it, but through night classes and lots of patience with my daughter, I have my Associates degree. Two more years, and I am anticipating my graduation this December with my Bachelors Degree, pending passing Chemical Toxicology. I work 40 hours a week, taking 21 hours in order to complete my degree this December, and thank my family and friends everyday for giving me the support that I need to make it to the next day. And I am now counting down the days, because when I walk across the stage, with my daughter watching, I will know that I have finally gotten it right.
