Is your dog shaped like a pumpkin or a banana? When considering cute Halloween costumes for dogs it is good to go with something that shows off both your dogs build and personality! Of course, there are challenges for those with very small or very large dogs. A store bought Halloween costume just might not work. Then is when you have to get creative. First get an idea of what you think your dog should ‘be’. Then go on a scavenger hunt to see what materials are available and what you will need to purchase. Always keep in mind that with a home-made costume safety will need to be considered. Don’t use materials that can hurt the dog, such as anything made of metal or that have sharp edges. Also, be careful of what you put near the dogs face. Consider if the dog is used to wearing either bandanas, or other decorative wear. The dog shouldn’t have to spend time trying to get free of the costume. Some dogs seem to like playing dress-up while others don’t. When buying a store-bought costume be sure to remember the safety of your dog as well. There are some really great costumes available for dogs and you can always buy the costume and then add accessories to it to make your dogs look unique.
